Turbine Blade Treatment and Cleaning
Software and SCADA for a 23-tank line that cleans and treats turbine blades.
The challenge
Turbine Blade Treatment and Cleaning
Turbine blades move through a series of 23 chemical tanks: soaked, chemically treated, rinsed, dried and heat treated, then stored. Every tank has its own dosing, pumps, lids and temperatures, and blades travel between them on an overhead conveyor.
The plant
- 23 tanks with dosing systems and pumps
- Overhead conveyor and lowering system
- Tank lids and sensors
- Temperature control and thermocouples
What we did
- Software and SCADA for the whole tank line
- Treatment recipes handled through SCADA
- Part tracking through MES, a paper trail for every part
- Reporting on how the line performs
The process
Step by step
Slow soak
Chemical treatment
Rinsing
Drying
Temperature treatment
Part storage
What the system does
In operation
- Each blade follows its recipe through soak, treatment, rinse and dry
- Sensors report pump state, and pumps switch over to keep the line running
- Every part is traceable from first tank to storage
